Our Beliefs

At Norwood Baptist Church, we are a Gospel-centered community committed to glorifying God in all that we do. Rooted in the historic Christian faith and guided by the truths of the Bible, we seek to honor God by loving Him and others through:

We Love God and Others By:

  • Worshipping Him: We believe that God alone is worthy of our worship. We gather as a church to glorify Him in spirit and truth (John 4:24), offering our praise, prayers, and lives as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1).
  • Proclaiming His Word: We affirm the Bible as the inspired, inerrant, and sufficient Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is our ultimate authority in all matters of faith and practice.
  • Sharing His Gospel: The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). We proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, calling all people to repent and believe in Him (Mark 1:15).
  • Equipping His People: We are called to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12). Through sound biblical teaching, discipleship, and fellowship, we seek to build up the body of Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

What We Believe

Our beliefs are firmly rooted in the historic Christian faith. Below is a summary of key doctrines we hold dear:

  • The Triune God: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is sovereign, holy, and worthy of all glory and honor (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19).
  • The Authority of Scripture: The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is the final authority for all matters of faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21).
  • The Gospel of Grace: Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again for our justification (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 4:25).
  • The Church: The church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers. We gather for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and the proclamation of the Gospel (Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 4:11-16).
  • The Ordinances: We affirm two ordinances given by Christ: Baptism (by immersion, for believers only) and the Lord’s Supper (a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice, observed by believers) (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
  • The Return of Christ: We believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ. He will judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end (Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:12-13).

Our Mission

As a church, we are committed to living out our faith in every area of life. We strive to:

  • Glorify God: in all that we do (1 Corinthians 10:31).
  • Love one another: as Christ has loved us (John 13:34-35).
  • Proclaim the Gospel: to a lost and dying world (Matthew 28:19-20).
  • Make disciples: who are rooted in the Word and growing in Christlikeness (Colossians 1:28).

We invite you to join us as we seek to glorify God, grow in grace, and proclaim the hope of the Gospel to the world.
